It’s hard to believe that fat can burn the calories, but new study has found that, in adults there are some small spots of brown fats that have the ability to regulate metabolic rate, formerly, these spots were believed to exit only in the babies and kids.

This brown fat can be termed as good fat, unlike white fat that constitute majority of the body fat, because it actively burns the body fat and utilize that generated energy.

This unique type of study first time showed that brown fat also does exist in the adults which can actively regulate the metabolic rate of the body. “this study has diverted the concern toward the brown fat in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, obesity and its associated risks,” lead researcher C. Ronald Kahn said.

Stoke disabilities can be reduced with laser therapy

Scientists have experienced a new treatment of mild stroke, in which patients brain are treated with laser beams to minimize the effects of disease.

Laser therapy was failed to reduce the stroke disabilities in 660 patients in the initial clinical trial, but significant improvement has been seen in the patients with mild to moderate stroke after laser treatment.

In the U.S. stroke has become the number three cause of causalities and leading cause of the major disabilities and in the experts opinion, need of new treatments is urgent.

Since now, FDA has approved only one drug for the stroke, caused by the blood clot. This clot-busting drug is commonly known as plasminogen activator that must be administered within the three hours of stroke attack, in case of survival.

Gene Variation – key factor in obesity

Six new mutant genes have identified in connection with obesity, which alter nervous system control over eating and metabolic rate, researchers reported.

Joel Hirschhorn in collaboration with Genetic Investigation of Anthropometric Traits (GIANT) analyzes 15 different studies conducted on entire human genetic map and isolates six new genetic variations.

“These findings are a big achievement in better comprehension of the way, human body regulates weight,” Dr. Alan Guttmacher, said in a statement.

“This study really doubles in one fell swoop the number of genetic factors contributing to obesity as a public health problem,” added Dr. Kari Stefansson.
